Skeg and rudder – optimal control in all conditions

The Havspaddeln Sarek is designed for stability and agility, making it a paddler-friendly sea kayak for both beginners and more experienced paddlers. With a width of 55 cm, its hull shape makes paddling both safe and fun. The comfortable seat keeps you comfortable on long trips, and the easily adjustable foot pedals make it simple to adapt your seating position.

The kayak is equipped with both a skeg and a rudder for the best possible control. The rudder is raised and lowered using the rudder line on the right side of the kayak, where you will also find the skeg control.

Generous storage space
The Sarek has three hatches – one in the bow, one in the stern and a handy day hatch just behind the cockpit. On deck there is also a compass recess, safety lines and elastic deck bungees for extra storage, perfect for longer trips.

Inside the cockpit, padded thigh braces provide extra support and contact with the kayak, increasing control while paddling. For easy transport, there are carry handles in both the bow and the stern.

1-layer or 3-layer plastic?
There is a common misconception that more layers of plastic automatically means higher quality. In fact, it is more about the kayak's construction and the quality of the plastic.

1-layer plastic is more flexible and better at absorbing impacts, which makes it particularly suitable for shorter plastic kayaks.
3-layer plastic is stiffer and gives better torsional rigidity, which is an advantage for longer kayaks over 5 metres.
