One of the best advantages of a plastic kayak is that it requires virtually no maintenance at all. Strong sun and air pollution can cause the condition and appearance of your kayak to deteriorate. If you store your kayak in the right way, you will enjoy your kayak for many years to come. Read more about how to store your kayak here.

Choosing between a double kayak or two single kayaks is something many people think about. Which is the right decision varies from case to case. A family often makes good use of a double kayak as it is good for paddling with children who are too young to paddle alone. The double kayak can also be paddled by itself, which makes it very useful. Two single sea kayaks for beginners are recommended if you know that there will be many trips on your own as well or if you have older children who want to try paddling on their own. Both the two-man kayak and our single kayaks from Havspaddeln are beginner-friendly sea kayaks.

We at Långholmen sell both new and used kayaks at good prices. If you want a kayak as cheap as possible, we have the cheapest price on our used kayaks. These are usually in very good condition but have been used for our rental and hence the extra reduced price. Here it is possible to find both two-man kayaks and single kayaks. Please keep an eye out for this month's promotional item - where during certain months we sell brand new kayaks at very attractive prices. Sometimes we have our best-selling sea kayaks in the form of Havspaddeln Eskimå, Havspaddeln Fjord, Havspaddeln Storuman and Havspaddeln Sarek at sale prices.

Some important safety measures when paddling are to always wear a buoyancy aid, stay up to date on weather conditions and winds. Plan your paddling trips in advance, inform someone of your route and when you are expected to return, and plan your route according to your ability. It is also important to learn how to get back into the kayak if you fall into the water, and to practice buddy rescue (i.e. enlist the help of another paddler to get you into the kayak).

To choose the right kayak for you, it is good to try different models and sit in the kayak to see if it fits your body and provides enough space and comfort. As a beginner, it can be beneficial to choose a slightly wider and more stable kayak to get a better initial sense of balance and security on the water. More experienced paddlers may be comfortable with narrower and faster kayaks that require more technique and balance. If you are a heavier paddler, a larger kayak to maintain stability and buoyancy can be good. With us at Långholmen Kajak, there is the opportunity to test paddle to feel how the kayak fits your body and how it reacts to the water.
