Inflatable seat
An inflatable single kayak is generally wider than a regular sea kayak. The sides are also much bigger, so it is important to have an inflatable seat with a little more height to get as good and natural a paddle stroke as possible. If you sit on the bottom of the kayak, you have to hold the paddle higher and your shoulders and back quickly get tired.
2 large fins
An inflatable single kayak glides a lot on the surface of the water, as it is relatively flat underneath. This naturally affects directional stability quite a lot. That is why it is very important to have two large fins underneath. If the kayak has only one fin, it will be much harder to paddle.
Splash guards
An inflatable single kayak is more open than a regular sea kayak, so both the paddler and all the gear are more likely to get wet. That is why it is important to have splash guards at both the front and rear, which keep out much of the water that would otherwise get into the kayak.
Drain plug
An inflatable kayak is easy to unpack and pack away, but getting all the water out when packing up can be very difficult. That is why it is good to have a drain plug that makes this easier. Packing away a kayak that is too wet and leaving it for a long time can make it go musty.
Longer paddle
Given the width of the kayak and the thickness of the sides, you need a paddle that is at least 230 cm long for a comfortable and natural paddle stroke.
Tough
Havspaddeln Frej is made of a hard-wearing PVC material that withstands a lot of wear and tear. The material is exactly the same as in the SUPs we use in our rental business, which we trust completely. The bow and stern of the kayak are fitted with hard plastic, so it will not get damaged even if you happen to paddle into jetties, rocks or the like. You should be careful with the fins under the kayak, but they are a larger, more durable type that can also take a lot.
Storage space
An inflatable single kayak has no hatches, but this model has "pockets" at the front and rear instead. We have made them extra large to protect your gear as well as possible, but also to avoid getting too much water into the kayak. There is plenty of room to bring gear for overnight trips or long day trips. On top of the pockets there are also elastic straps where you can attach other gear, such as dry bags. There is also a small mesh pocket right by the seat for smaller items you want to reach easily, such as your mobile phone, sunglasses or a water bottle.
Comfortable paddling
This inflatable single kayak is very comfortable to paddle, mainly thanks to the inflatable seat. The kayak has been developed over a long time to create an inflatable kayak that does not feel clumsy and that gives the best possible paddle control. With a higher seat you sit a little higher up and get a more natural paddle stroke. As this type of kayak is wider than usual and the large sides put you further from the water, it is very important that the kayak has an inflatable seat and a longer paddle.
Good carrying handles
The kayak has 4 carrying handles, making it easy to carry on your own or together with someone else.
