Eskimå - a versatile sea kayak
The Eskimå has become one of the most popular kayaks in Sweden, largely thanks to its all-round qualities. It is ideal for anyone who wants an easy-to-paddle sea kayak that picks up speed easily and has a comfortable cockpit. It suits shorter trips just as well as overnight adventures.
The foot pedals that steer the rudder are easy to adjust while sitting in the kayak. The small mesh pocket on the deck makes it easy to store a map, fruit and other things you want to reach during your trip.
The Havspaddeln Eskimå is a sea kayak, which means it is longer than 5 m and therefore copes well in wavy and windy conditions. The kayak's length combined with its hull shape means it cuts through the water nicely and has a long waterline, which also gives increased stability and directional stability.
Tough
The Eskimå is a tough kayak made of 3-layer polyethylene plastic, which makes it very rigid and robust. With this kayak, you can pull it up onto the rocks when you go ashore for a coffee break without worrying about cracks or other damage. The Eskimå is virtually maintenance-free, which means less fixing and more time on the water!
Simple steering system
The rudder at the stern is easily operated with the foot pedals in the cockpit. The foot pedals can be quickly adjusted so that the kayak suits both shorter and taller paddlers. The rudder makes the kayak easy to manoeuvre when you want to change course or compensate for wind. You can easily raise and lower the rudder from the cockpit using a cord within easy reach on the outside of the kayak.
Sea kayak storage
Room for gear
The Eskimå has two large storage compartments plus a smaller, easily accessible hatch just behind the cockpit (right side). They hold sleeping bags, extra clothes, food and other gear you want to bring on your trip. Small items such as a water bottle, map and fruit are best kept in the mesh pocket in front of the cockpit, or in the smaller middle hatch with a screw lid.
Comfortable paddling
The Eskimå has a soft seat with a backrest that adjusts in height, depth and sideways. Inside the cockpit there are thigh braces that give you good contact with the kayak and keep you comfortable throughout your trip.
Eskimå sea kayak carry handles
Good carry handles
There are handles at the bow and stern that make the kayak easy to carry. If you carry the kayak on your own, you get a good grip on the cockpit with one hand. If you are alone and cannot manage to carry it, a kayak trolley is handy for moving the kayak on land.
